Many people are under the false impression that coaching is something that comes “naturally” and doesn’t require skill development or formal training.

Even people with a natural propensity to be a good coach need training to build that talent into a valuable skill. This skill is not typically covered in management development courses.

In this workshop, you will learn authentic tactical and strategic coaching, with hands-on practice and interactive assignments. Navigating Challenging Dialogue® is the foundation of the tools we’ll be covering.

 

Skillful, Authentic Coaching

When done well, coaching doesn't require a great deal of time and it doesn’t drain your energy. In fact, it gives you more time and energy because when you are a trained and skillful coach you are able to help others:

  • Improve problem-solving abilities

  • Learn how to work through barriers to success

  • Discern what is most important and set priorities and goals

  • Gain insight into patterns of behavior that hold them back

Effective coaching is not about people becoming more dependent on you, but instead about empowering people to lean on their own unique skills, talents, and strengths on a daily basis.
 

Total Workshop length is four Sessions and includes:

  • The practice of coaching skills rooted in self-awareness, emotional self-regulation, and leading with empathy and curiosity (Navigating Challenging Dialogue®)

  • The foundational skills of coaching

  • Applying the NCD Coaching Framework

  • How to manage coaching sessions with resistant employees

  • Coaching peer:peer, supervisor:employee, and to use coaching as a tool to manage-up

  • Determining when coaching is and is not the right tool

  • How to create a coaching culture within your team or organization

  • How to use spot-coaching as well as coaching sessions

In hands-on practice and demonstrations of coaching skills, you will use your own current, real-life management challenges that you face day-to-day. Beth will provide personalized spot-coaching for in-depth development of your skills. Note, depending on the exercise, participants will at times be a coach and at other times be coached by another participant.

 

Coaching in the Workplace Workshop

Logistics

This is a four-session experiential workshop delivered via live video. Each participant will be working on their own real-life scenarios during the class. Each session is 2 hours.

  • Live practice of coaching another participant using their real-life scenario.

  • Observational learning of live practice.

  • Spot-coaching with Beth.

  • Assignment of coaching practice that must be completed during the program.
