Here Are a Few Communication Tools

I recently facilitated a Navigating Challenging Dialogue® Essentials workshop with a long-time client. I was surprised when I realized that at least half of the participants had taken the workshop a few years prior.

I began reflecting on my own experience with NCD and realized that for me, the process and the practice continues to unfold. And every single day, I learn something new about myself, my emotional regulation and self-management, and how I stumble at times when I communicate. Particularly with loved ones and people close to me.

But I will let the feedback speak for itself:

“So worthwhile to do this class again”

“Working with Beth and NCD again is a much-needed booster shot!”

“This was very refreshing and a great reminder of how to navigate these challenging conversations. As this was my second time completing this class. It really seemed to help me gain the confidence I was lacking”

I share these as a reminder that NCD is not a one-and-done training, but an on-going practice. With intention and integration, the practice becomes part of your character and how others see and experience you.

But not everyone has access to taking the workshop twice. Or even once. I get it. And that makes me work even harder to provide tools to provide greater access.

Here are just a few tools you can use:

  • “Turn this Conversation Around” is the official guidebook to the NCD process. Complete with teaching vignettes from real clients using the tools, access to the NCD Process Worksheets, and step-by-step instructions to work through your own tough conversations, this book is a resource that will get you started. https://ncdsolution.com/book

  • My NCDsolution.com website hosts over 30 free worksheets, pdfs, and articles that will help you build your skills in feedback, coaching, trustworthiness, and leadership. These are resources that we’ve created specifically for clients but are so valuable and needed in the workplace, we just had to share! https://ncdsolution.com/free-tools

  • Still using the feedback sandwich? Well forget about it. It doesn’t work! Instead grab a copy of Mastering Feedback: Everything You’ve Never Been Told About How to Give Feedback.  This mini book is 30 pages, and invaluable for anyone who ever has to give feedback (which is everyone). https://ncdsolution.com/mastering

Here is my biggest tip!

Here’s something that will change the tenor and the tone of every conversation you engage in: Sink into curiosity!  If you aren’t sure how to do that, download The Art of the Curious Question PDF

I’m looking forward to hearing from you how your NCD practice is growing!
