Recommended Listen — Trauma: The Invisible Epidemic
This week’s post is brief on purpose because I’m sharing a podcast interview that I think is important that we all listen to.
The interviewee is Dr. Paul Conti, author of “Trauma: The Invisible Epidemic: How Trauma Works and How We Can Heal From It”. Full disclosure, I’ve not read the book yet, but when the podcast was shared with me, I was enthralled with the words and wisdom of the Stanford-trained psychiatrist. His suggestions felt so relevant, important and doable.
He talks with Mel Robbins about the toxic self-talk that starts in childhood, the extreme impact of negative self-talk and why it happens, and what to do when you feel like a failure or always have bad luck. He also shares some insight into letting go of guilt.
It is a long one (1 hour and 22 minutes) but it is full to the brim with valuable information, analogies, and things that both support the foundations of Navigating Challenging Dialogue® and things I had no idea about.
Take your time. Listen in pieces. Absorb it. And reflect on it.
